Objective:

The aim of the project was to bundle the knowledge available in the company and integrate it into the respective work process. The identification and consolidation of explicit and implicit knowledge took place in three definable individual projects - support for a product development process, process optimization in the laboratory area, and structuring and standardization of the processing of drawing data.

Procedure:

Starting from a definable pilot area, the "knowledge pool" was jointly developed at the beginning of the project as a figurative understanding of "managing knowledge". This involved identifying the knowledge available in various documents as well as in the heads of the employees in relation to the underlying work process in the individual pilot areas, checking it for relevance, and establishing a structured link to the respective work process. To this end, the following four main activities were carried out: 1. detailed process description including persons involved, data and documents used, and existing interfaces. 2. creation of knowledge maps. 3. development of an area-specific communication concept. 4. specifications for a database-supported knowledge management system.

Duration:

The project "Knowledge management in corporate practice: knowledge pool - empirical research using the example of the automotive supply industry" was successfully carried out in the period from 2/2005 to 6/2006.
